TUNNEL CREEK (DIMALURRU)

Dimalurru is a truly unique wonder of the Kimberley region. Water has carved a large tunnel through the limestone of the Napier Range, measuring a staggering 20m high and 15m wide in some parts! It is estimated that 350 million years ago this was part of an ocean reef system.

Sunlight spills into the cathedral-like cavern with a sense of eerie mystique. Stalactite formations hang from the cave, adding to the formation.

While walking through the 750m tunnel, you’ll travel from one side of the Napier Range to the other, and likely come across a variety of bat and freshwater crocodile species that inhabit the cave.

There are walking trails in the area where you can spot local wildlife such as fruit bats and corellas in the trees along the water's edge. You’ll be in awe of the fossilised marine life in the limestone walls of the gorge.
