MOUNT HART WILDERNESS LODGE: A NEW BASE FOR UNRIVALLED KIMBERLEY ADVENTURES
Nestled in the Wunaamin Conservation Park, adventure is never far away for the guests staying at Mount Hart Wilderness Lodge.
As the doors open for a new season, the minty scent of eucalyptus leaves hang over the newly renovated lodge, where adventure staff are up and raring to help guests uncover the magic of the Mount Hart.
New operations manager, Luke Hayman, is setting the bar high with deluxe changes to the establishment.
“Mount Hart is the perfect base to explore the Kimberley’s best, just a short drive or flight from most famous Kimberley destinations. We want to make it the obvious choice for those ready to discover its iconic untamed nature”, says Luke.
Perhaps the most intriguing addition are the helicopter experiences, giving guests first-time-ever access to previously unseen and untouched nature. Flying over the vast golden landscape, visitors now get to experience waterfalls and hidden gorges inaccessible by foot or 4WD. New tour experiences also put popular hot spots on the map for Mount Hart visitors with Horizontal Falls tours and Kings Cascades tours allowing travellers to enjoy a dip in ancient rock pools along the journey.
Adding to the many gorges and mountain views, Mount Hart boasts a colourful history and authentic old charm. Once the centre of a cattle station as early as 1914, today the vintage impression is combined with stylish accommodation, a charming bar and restaurant complete with cuisine designed by acclaimed Chef Brad Leahy (ex-Executive Chef of award-winning Blue Water Grill).
“My favourite moment so far has been to watch the sun sink down behind the red hills with a cold drink in my hand. The colours that bounce off the back of the ranges are absolutely sensational,” says Leona Walsh, guest at Mount Hart.
“We stopped into Mount Hart after travelling through Broome and El Questro. Needless to say, this is a must-visit addition to any Kimberley itinerary. My friends travelled by air directly from Broome.”
Leona is one of the first guests to experience Mount Hart’s new Deluxe Riverside Tents. Here, explorers get to sleep under the stars in spacious bell tents and wake up to the sounds of nature. This morning, she spotted the gorgeous Gouldian Finch birds skipping around outside the tent; one of hundreds of bird species unique to the region.
Around the corner from the Lodge, are isolated patches of remnant rainforest with ridges rising to 300 meters. Dalmanyi (previously known as Bell Gorge) is one of numerous hidden gorges in the park. It bends and flows into dozens of shady small pools suitable for swimming. Finally, after a long day out, the travellers can relax with the guppies in the clear waters of the Parkers Pool.
“Previously, Mount Hart has been used as a simple stop for tired travellers along the Gibb River Road. Today, we are excited to present it as one of the Kimberley’s newest bases for discovering world-renown landmarks as well as some of region’s best kept secret spots”, says Luke Hayman, Mount Hart Operations Manager.
